Awards
Becoming a lifesaver is all about a state of mind. There are certain qualifications that need to be done.
Some awards cover the swimming requirement for GCSE PE and can be used with The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for either skill, physical or service. These are the awards that we offer.
Life Support
The basic knowledge in Life Saving skills to deal with an emergency. This award teaches CPR for adults and some basic First Aid, ready for you to move on to Life Support 3.
Life Support 3
Designed to establish excellent levels of knowledge and ability to administer Basic Life Support to casualties of all ages and in a variety of emergency situations. This is the highest level of life support accreditation.

Life Saving 1, 2 & 3
These awards introduce the basic aquatic Life Saving and provide a good preparation for the Bronze Medallion. Thse awards will be taken by those who are not old enough to take the Bronze Medallion.
Bronze Medallion
The Bronze Medallion is recognized as the flagship. Geared to developing the essential elements of fitness, knowledge, skill and judgement, this Life Saving training will help you to cope in a crisis. Training for the award will give you the skills of how to assess an emergency situation, carry out rescues in various circumstances, resuscitate and care for an unconscious casualty.
Award of Merit
This award follows on from the Bronze Medallion and requires a proficient level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in simulated open water rescue situations.
Distinction
To establish excellent levels of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in simulated open water rescue situations. Training and Assessment is conducted in a swimming pool.
Bronze Cross
This Life Saving award is designed to establish competent levels of ability in an open water rescue. It is undertaken at an open water site.
Silver Cross
This is also included as a prerequisite for the Distinction Award. It is a Life Saving award designed to establish proficient levels of knowledge and practical ability in open water situations.
Surf Competancy
This award is there to ensure people are ready to compete in open water. It is run prior to any open water competitions, for the members who need it.
Qualifications
NPLQ
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is used as an International standard for lifeguards around the world. It teaches safety in and around the pool along with First Aid, CPR, water rescues and spinal injury care. This is one of the highest standard awards in Life Saving.
Life Saving Trainer Assessor
We are always looking for people with the skills to teach life saving awards to other people.
